Focus on Youth – Update

We are having a great year with the kids.  I am teaching everyday and the students work with the mentors one day a week.  We are teaching the students digital and they love it.  Our greatest need now is digital cameras, we only have about 4 loaned cameras and we have 16 students. 

The at-risk youth we are working with are from the Portland International Community School and are immigrant and refugee students from Africa, Asia, Romania and Central America.  I am working with the teachers on integrated studies and we are using photography in all aspects of learning.  We are also planning an on-line exhibit with youth in Scotland in March.

We would love your help getting the word out about our first annual auction to be held at the Pacific Northwest College of Art.  The event will be held on May 1, 2010 in the evening.  We would like photographers to donate a framed, fine art print for the auction.   Their donation is tax deductible and they will receive a free ticket to attend the event.
