Remembering Jerry and Larry

Posted by Danny Abrego on November 14, 2008 at 12:00 am

As we prepare to begin the twenty-first year of our organization, we note the loss of Jerry Auker, one of our founding members and past president, who died October 31. Although the direction of PMPA has been shaped over the years by a number of the original members, Jerry had been paramount in keeping PMPA alive and true to the objective of serving local professional photographers. Along with his wife Gloria, the Aukers worked tirelessly to make our programs and projects a success. Additionally, Jerry’s many years as a professional photographer made some of the best photographers and teachers available to us: photographers such as Monte Zucker, David Ziser, Frank Cricchio, to name just a few.

With the talent and resources of our remaining members, PMPA will continue to provide the photo community with programs and events that support our members and those interested in joining us. Thanks to Jerry and the other founding members who started PMPA 20 years ago, we have the direction and precedent to continue being an asset to this community.

2008 also marked the death of former PMPA member Larry Alberton. Larry was a local photographer and member of PMPA in the 90′s and later provided custom framing services with his wife, Judith. They owned FrameCraft Northwest for many years until Larry’s declining health forced him to cut back on his involvement in the business.

Our prayers continue to be with both Gloria and Judith.
